Led Rides

Dust off your bike from the shed, get some oil on the chain and let’s get those wheels turning. Not got a bike, we can help with that.

We regularly organise community group rides from key locations across Midlothian. Our led rides are aimed at people who would like to get out and explore their local area with a group of like minded people, providing the opportunity to meet new people, maybe get fit but most of all have a bit of fun during a relaxed easy paced ride.

Each ride is planned and led by an experienced and trained member of the team, giving you hints and tips along the way to make the most of your two-wheeled adventure and if all else fails they will be close by to give you encouragement to tackle that next hill.

Group rides usually work to 1:8 (instructor:candidates) ratio and we ask that children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult.

Our next community ride:
Check out the Events page to find out details of our upcoming rides.

Bespoke Led Rides:
If you have a group of friends, colleagues or employees and are looking for something a little different then why not ask us to help you out. We can arrange a suitable route, bikes and leader to take your group out for the day to see some local sights around Midlothian, maybe even stop for a bite to eat. You tell us what you would like to do, we will try our best to make it happen.

Buddy Rides:
Do you want to get back in the saddle but unsure of safe places to ride or routes to get to and from work. We can arrange for one of our instructors to meet with you, plan a safe and suitable route and even come with you for the first couple of runs to boost your confidence.
We can also arrange short One-to-One adult skills training sessions, to equip you with the skills and knowledge to make you a better, safer cyclist on the roads. See our Cycle Skills section for more details.

RUTS was established in 1981, by a group of enthusiastic motorcycling youth workers to provide activity-based group-work projects for young people. These projects used off-road motorcycling as an activity which took the interest of the young people involved and encouraged involvement, but at the same time provided opportunities for useful growth experiences, such as teamwork and taking instruction.
